Swim Kickboards
Uses for Kickboards
Kickboards can be used to allow the beginning swimmer to practice kicking in isolation from arm and head movements. Some new swimmers initially have a kick that is so ineffective that they don’t move forward at all or can even move backwards.
With the kick board, they can isolate the kicking movement and develop forward thrust. If the instructor wants to get the student started they can use the kickboard as a handle to pull the swimmer forward.
Kickboards provide additional resistance
It is more difficult to push a swimming kickboard through the water than to simply push the body through the water, as the kickboard adds additional resistance. This encourages developing proper kicking technique.
Intensive leg workout
Used by the experienced swimmer, swim kickboards can provide an intensive workout for the legs.
Types of Kickboards
Kickboards come in traditional rounded rectangle shapes as well as more sculpted shapes like the Aqua Sphere Fitness Kickboard and the Water Gear Stealth Kickboard.
