The Fit is in the Frame
Not the Foam

In order to get a swim goggle to fit there must be a tight seal between the eyecup and the face. There are two ways...

The Positive Pressure Seal
or
The Suction Seal

The Positive Pressure Seal

The positive pressure or anatomical seal, is a unique, patented system developed by Barracuda . The goggle frame is shaped around the eye to closely match the tissue. In addition each area of the frame matches the underlying bone structure. This directs the foam into those areas, which used to be more difficult to seal.

At the inner corner of the eye
  • the frame pushes the sponge against the side of the nose. In area
  • (2) the frame pushes foam into the depression between the nose and cheekbone. At the outer area
  • (3) it pushes almost directly back to fill the depression near the outer corner of the eye.

Since the frame of the Barracuda goggle matches the anatomy of the face it is not dependent on suction to create the seal. The sponge acts as a gasket between two like surfaces. A conforming or "memory" sponge is used on all Barracuda line goggles allowing for individual differences, without resorting to suction.

The goggle doesn't have to stick to your face to keep out water! They don't leave marks on your face. The reduced pressure of the frame against the face is also important because it minimizes pressure over sinuses and nerves. Suction on these areas can lead to pain and swelling. The size of the goggle is only important in how well it covers the eye.

The technically designed, patented shape of the Barracuda frame makes it possible to offer a swim goggle which gives unsurpassed comfort, service, and pleasure.
